WPX XDN Review – The term CDN refers to a content delivery network. It’s a network of dispersed nodes (also known as Edge Location Servers) that helps deliver content (webpages, video, images, and so on) to end users based on the user’s location, the content origin server, and the Edge server location. CDN nodes have the ability to cache content and serve it to users from a location that is close to them geographically. CDN nodes can span various ISP (Internet Service Provider) networks and are placed in multiple geographic locations by CDN providers.
What is a CDN and how does it work?
If the CDN configurations for the website are specified, once an user wants to visit the server content (site) from a specific location, the query is routed to the nearest optimum Content delivery network node first. If the CDN has all the information requested cached upon the node, the user will be served through that node instead of going back towards the source server. If some content is not cached upon that CDN node serve the user, the query will first proceed to the CDN node, and then to the source server. After that, the CDN node retrieves the content from the source server and fulfills the user’s request. Furthermore, the CDN node caches the content in order to deliver any upcoming requests for that data from this user as well as any other user. In theory, when a website uses CDN, only the first user who requests a specific piece of material would see an increase in latency, and subsequent users will have quicker access to that piece of content because it will be delivered from of the CDN node. Of course, this is contingent on the data’s content cache settings (e.g., site cache options), since these configurations may force the CDN node to re-fetch the material based upon that content’s expiration period.
What Really is WPX DN and How Does It Work?

The WPX CDN (Content Delivery Network), currently known as XDN, was first released in October 2018 which is wpx own fast, hand-built Cdn having 30 ‘end points’ (and increasing!) throughout the world.
wpx CDN infrastructure had a major major upgrade in 2021, and they named it wpx XDN (eXceptional Delivery Network), as XDN enabled the company to win the average global performance throughout all filed areas.
Isn’t the XDN similar to other CDNs?
Unlike many other CDNs, XDN was created from the bottom up for high performance managed WordPress hosting by wpx.
Furthermore, they regularly test and tune the XDN for optimum WordPress speed, which is something that traditional CDN firms (who may not be hosting businesses) wont or can’t do.
Is the XDN compatible with all types of websites?
Yes, however certain websites benefit from a CDN far more than others. For example, if you have a standard WordPress website with text, pictures, including optin forms, or perhaps a portfolio website (for artists or photographers), using WPX XDN will dramatically improve the speed of your webpage.
If you’ve a website having bespoke and dynamic elements, such as an ecommerce website with unique shopping baskets, the XDN will not be as helpful since these dynamic elements cannot be cached by the XDN.
WPX clients who have been there for a looooong period understand that they have been advocating W3 Total Cache plugin with their customized settings to increase performance of the website. The W3TC plugin is also still strongly advised for the XDN, with their recommended configurations.
Is the XDN available to every WPX clients at no cost?
The XDN has already been free within all WPX Hosting clients on all packages, including Business, Professional, and Elite, since its launch.
What impact will the WPX XDN have on my bandwidth allocation?
It’s not going to happen. All of that change with the XDN is how and where the website information is given to visitors, as well as how quickly they are served. The bandwidth limits in the plans have not changed.
